Greater Things Ahead

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” – John 14:12

As our Student Ministry prepares for our Student Takeover service for Sunday night, we look at the past of how God moved, we focus on the present that is in front of us, and we look forward to the future that God has in store for our students. I am so blessed to be a part of the church family that I am. I love all my students and all of my leaders. I am blessed to have the people I have walking beside me in this ministry that God has so richly blessed Lindsey and I with.

God calls us to greatness. I don’t believe God called you just to be good. He has a purpose for your life, your family, and your ministry…wherever you are. You don’t have to be on staff at a church to be a minister. We are all called to be ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

But, what exactly did Jesus mean by “greater works than He”? How can we do greater than the Father? If Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice, who died for our sins, did what He did, than what is greater than that? As I pray and prepare for Wednesday night service and for our Student Takeover service on Sunday night, I went to a place with God that I haven’t gone in a long time. I went to His heart.

I feel bad saying this, but it was a place that I had honestly forgotten what it was like. It wasn’t a moment to where I saw an angel face to face and the angel spoke straight to me verbally of what to do in life, nor did I see a street of pearls and gold around me. It was a moment with God where He showed me the future. The future of our Student Ministry. I saw what He wants to do in our youth and leaders. It was a moment of silence to where I forgot everything around me and only felt the heart beat of God and the voice of God. God is great and if we follow Him, we will see greater!

On Sunday night, Pastor preached a timely word for us, but the words that stuck with me the whole time during our service were these: “I have lied to, lied about, and been falsely accused of who I truly am. I want to get mad and do something about it, but maturity calls me to do something different. Maturity calls me to keep my mouth shut, pray, and go to God with everything, because I have seen the future for our church and for our community.” We can make excuses about our mistakes, or we can man up to our mistakes and let God use those mistakes for our future. Just like my Pastor said, I see the future, yet, things come up every day that try and stop the will of God for His people, but God in me calls for me to be something greater.

With our Student Takeover service coming up, I raise my voice in victory. I see the people God wants to touch. I feel the heart beat of God. I hear God calling His people to an altar of repentance. Reader, no matter what you are going through today, don’t allow the enemy to speak death into your life. The enemy doesn’t care anything about you. He only comes to steal, kill, and destroy you. It is time for us to rise in praise the only One who is able to save us out of our pit.

You lust, that’s okay. God can deliver you and help you. You have an addiction to sex, drugs, and alcohol, that’s okay. God is addicted to you. He loves you. He wants your whole heart. The enemy that lurks around today is just using the sin in your life to distract you from the true purpose that God has for you. I see your struggle, man and woman of God. God sees your need. Let it go and grab ahold of the future that God has for you now! You’re not going to find it in a book, or in a magazine article for ways to lose weight. You will only find your purpose and your identity in the God who created you. Humble yourself in prayer and submit yourself to the Holy One who cares and loves for you. Let go of the past for God has a GREATER future for you! You have many lives to touch and many people to lead to the Cross!
